Emre was introduced to the guitar at the age of 13.
From the start he was attracted to the Flamenco guitar with its beauty and richness of culture. This combination drove him to master the rhythmical complexity of its music.
At the first opportunity he moved to Seville where he was able to study under the Great Flamenco guitarists Gerardo Núñez, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Manolo Sanlucar and Niño de Pura. Recognizing his virtuosity, he was granted a scholarship to study at the Fundacion Cristina Heeren where he had the opportunity to perform with singers like Paco Taranto and Jose de la Tomasa. To master the art of accompanying he performed in the dance academy of Juana Amaya. He continued to Jazz Studio (Antwerp) to develop his music knowledge. He received the third place for guitar at the Concurso de Guitarra Flamenca de Calasparra in 2005 (Murcia).
Emre is now based in Belgium - where he taught the Flamenco guitar at the Gent Conservatory from 2004 to 2006. He is the founding member and lead guitarist of the group
Emre “el turco” and Soniquete. He is a true interpreter of the music of Paco de Lucia and Tomatito. He is busy recording his first solo album. |
